No internet… No life!!

Wow, I never realized how much of my life takes place on-line. I am not a person who utilizes the Internet to meet to people, or join communities or groups, but rather for personal convenience! When we were doing this assignment, I was actually unable to post my blog because I had no Internet access for about a week! Unfortunately I had a death and my family and I had to return home, to my parents. I grew up on a Native American reservation, and to put it simply, we haven’t always been up to date on technology!  There isn’t even any cell phone reception!  Normally Internet access wouldn’t be a problem but my parents computer was completely broke and due to the rural location wireless Internet isn’t available at there house. So even though I had my computer, I still could not access the Internet. This made me realize that I depend significantly on the Internet; for this class, and my other classes especially. I also can find contact information, email, check personal accounts (banking, myspace), etc. all on-line.

The whole time I was at my parents, I was constantly trying to find a way to get on-line, and I was pretty unsuccessful! I was pretty upset and preoccupied with my family issues, so I didn’t try as hard as I could have to get on-line, but at the same time not getting on-line made me realize how much my life relies on it!

My main form of communication with my friends and family isn’t usually through email or on the Internet at all, so not having the Internet wouldn’t have a dramatic affect on my communication with the people who I am close with. I prefer to communicate through email with professors and guidance’s counselors, along with my boss because I feel that it allows them to reply when they have a chance and I don’t feel like I am interrupting them as much. I guess I feel that it can be as convenient others as it can be for me!

Not having access to the Internet for such a long time made me appreciate the convenience it gives me more!
